Hi, I Am Roseline Akande

Role: UX Researcher and UI Designer
I’m a student in Vephla University’s Design School, cohort 9B, and I just want to say how grateful I am to the entire team for their amazing teaching and the steady flow of assignments we get after each class. From the very first day, at Students’ orientation, I knew this was the right place for me. The mentor who hosted it spoke with such passion, he talked about not giving up and putting your heart into everything. He really struck a chord with me, and I promised myself right then that I was going to give it my best.
When we started, my mentor always made it compulsory for us to post our work consistently, and eventually, it became a part of our routine. You’d feel almost out of place if you didn’t share your projects, and this really pushed everyone in my cohort to keep up and improve. Vephla students are known for sharing their work, and I believe this habit has helped a lot of us land jobs. I got mine that way to something I never would’ve expected! And believe it or not, this habit of sharing our work like my mentor instructs has opened up amazing opportunities. Six months into the program, I already have job offers from a firm in the U.S. and Nigeria! I recently shared an assignment on landing page design, and just before writing this testimonial, I was contacted by a U.S.-based business growth podcaster. He invited me onto his show to discuss how design and landing pages can impact business growth. It’s incredible to think that something I did for a class could have such a real-world impact!
I can’t say enough about how much the experience at Vephla has changed my life and pushed me to grow in ways I never thought possible. When I started, I didn’t know what to expect, and honestly, I wasn’t sure how I’d do in tech. But from day one, Vephla has kept us all on our toes, pushing us with assignments after each lesson and, even more importantly, deadlines! It’s not just “do the task” it’s “do the task by this date and time.” This structure has been such a game-changer for me. Having these regular deadlines keeps me focused and helps me keep building my skills step-by-step. I wish more tech schools would use this approach because I truly believe it’s a big part of why Vephla students succeed and get hired so quickly. It’s the kind of structure and push you don’t find everywhere, but it’s made a massive difference for me.
The assignments and tasks have boosted my skills so much I keep sharing my designs and ideas on LinkedIn just as my mentor insisted we do. Just six months into the program, and I already have job offers. Looking back, I remember the first time I completed a landing page design, and I was honestly shocked, I never thought I could create something like that! But then we moved to the next project, and the next, and before I knew it, I was handling project after project, and my skills kept growing. The pace at Vephla is intense, and that’s a good thing. The fast pace and the consistent practice kept me focused and pushed me out of my comfort zone, making me realize just how much I could handle. Every week, I was learning something new, and the details stayed with me because we were always building on what we’d just learned.
Also, One of the best parts about Vephla’s program is how they encourage us to work in teams. Even months into the course, I’m already working alongside other students in different areas, like front-end engineering, project management, and data analysis. This isn’t just about “learning together”, it’s real teamwork, the kind of collaboration you experience on actual job projects. Working with people in different departments has shown me what it’s like to handle the flow of ideas, adjust to feedback, and share responsibility to achieve a common goal. It’s an experience that has totally changed how I see the field. It’s also built my confidence for the real world, taught me the skills I need in design and also exposed me to what it’s like to work in tech.
I never thought I’d do well in tech, but here I am, six months in, with real job offers and a ton of confidence I didn’t have before. That’s the “Vephla Effect” just like my Faculty mentor says and it’s rubbed off on me and changed my whole perspective. I’m more excited and motivated than ever to keep sharing my work and give my all to every assignment. Thank you, Vephla, for the incredible support and for helping me discover what I’m capable of!
